Ladies and Gentlemen,
Alii
I am honoured to say a few words in recognition of the remarkable journey undertaken by Master Navigator Sesario Sewralur and his crew aboard Alingano Maisu. A journey that highlighted their navigational expertise and the importance of preserving this centuries-old culture. A journey that celebrated the cultural diversity that makes up Micronesia and the strength that can be found through collaboration and unity between the islands. A journey that demonstrates the resilience of ancestral cultures that used the seas as a means to travel. Ancient cultures with travellers whose legacy endures through the passing of generations through traditions.
Indeed, it is important of conserve and promote non-instrumental navigation methods. Methods that were demonstrated by Alingano Maisu's voyage bridging the past with the present.
In bringing this event and celebration of traditions to fruition, I wish to acknowledge and honour the collaborative spirit of community members and the commitment of the Micronesian Voyaging Society. It's evident that your traditions are the heartbeats of your communities, connecting you to your roots in ways that deserve our utmost admiration. I particularly appreciate the balance you achieve between preserving your heritage and embracing progress. A balance that holds lessons for all of us.
Thank you for allowing me to share in this priceless event and to learn more about your culture and traditions. Your dedication to preserving your heritage while promoting greater understanding beyond the Pacific is truly admirable.
In concluding I wish to applaud Alingano Maisu, Master Navigator Sesario Sewralur, and their crew for their incredible accomplishments. Your strong commitment shows the power of cultural heritage in shaping our present and future.
Mesulang!
